2007년 태안 기름유출은 당시 회복에 몇 십년이 걸릴 것이라는 예측을 할 정도로 규모가 큰 사고였다. 수많은 사람들이 태안 바다로 가 오염된 까만 돌을 닦으며 세정 행위에 참여했고 그 결과 회복이 힘들 것이라는 예측과 다르게 10여년 만에 다시 건강한 자연을 되찾았다. 우리는 이러한 과거의 사건에서 미래를 향한 메시지를 읽을 수 있다고 생각했다. 현재 코로나 19로 일상을 잃고 고통받는 우리에게 이 과거 사건을 매개로 현재를 사는 사람들에게 희망의 메시지를 주고자 한다.

 

호텔 비누는 과거와 현재의 사건을 매개하는모티브를 ‘세정하다’에서 얻었다. 태안 기름유출 사고를 이겨낸 돌을 ‘닦아내는’ 행위와 코로나 19로 인한 비누로 손을 ‘씻는’ 행위, 사회적 ‘거리두기’를 통해 각각의 하위 연상 단어로 ‘닦아내다’와 ‘씻어내다’를 도출했다. 이를 흑백의 색상으로 시각화하여 과거 사건을 연상할 수 있고 재질의 밀도를 조절하여 공간의 다양성을 느낄 수 있다. 이러한 연상 단어는 호텔 내부의 층별로 각기 메시지를 달리하여 방문객에게 전달된다. 호텔에 방문함으로써 물리적인 신체의 세정을 경험할 수 있으며 나아가 정신적 세정을 통해 새로워진, ‘Be New’, 자신을 느낄 수 있다.

호텔 비누는 태안의 아픔을 잊지 않고 이를극복의 메시지를 이끌어 방문객에게 전달하고자 하는 태안 로컬 호텔이다. 실제 만리포 해변에서 찾아낸 자연의 겹쳐진 이미지, 모래 바닥에 새겨진 파도결이나 물거품 등을 패턴으로 해석해 공간에 표현했다. 과거와 현재를 아우르는 호텔 내부에는 태안의 자연을 온전히 느낄 수 있는 다양한 공간과 함께 혼자 여행 트렌드를 반영한 개인 휴식 공간이 마련되어있다.

The 2007 Taean oil spill was such a big accident that it predicted it would take decades to recover. Countless people went to the sea in Taean to participate in the cleaning process by wiping contaminated black stones. As a result, they regained healthy nature contrary to the prediction that recovery would be difficult. We thought we could read the message to the future from these past events. We would like to give a message of hope to those who live in the present and suffer from the loss of their daily lives with Corona 19.

Hotel BINU was obtained from '세정하다' motifs that mediated past and present events. Through the act of cleaning the contaminated stones to overcome the Taean oil spill accident, the act of washing hands and the social distancing caused by Corona 19, we get "닦아내다" and “씻어내다” with each of words. By visualizing it in black and white colors, it can be reminiscent of past events and it can feel the diversity of space by making the difference of the density of materials. These associated words are delivered to visitors by different floors within the hotel. By visiting the hotel, you can experience physical cleansing, and furthermore, you can feel 'Be New,' which has been renewed through mental cleansing.

 

Hotel BINU is a local hotel in Taean that does not forget the pain of Taean and tries to deliver a message of overcoming it to visitors. In fact, the overlapping images of nature, which we found on the beach of Manripo, waves carved on the sand floor, and bubbles were interpreted into patterns to express the space. Inside the hotel, there are various spaces where you can fully feel the nature of Taean, as well as private rest areas that reflect travel alone trends.
